James has worked on projects for numerous Australian, European and US-based organisations, most recently in the areas of transformational change, organisational change, strategy design and implementation, ‘green’ change, the implementation of innovation and new technology, applying design principles and creativity to strategy design and development, personal change and influence, and organisational and management development. James has worked with organisations such as the United Nations (ACT/EMP) in Geneva and Zurich Switzerland, with Origin, Rio Tinto, IBM, Australian Federal Police, AIPM, The ABC, ANZ Bank, Westpac, Vodafone, Telstra, Optus, Commonwealth Bank, Australian Customs Service and St. Vincent’s Hospital Sydney just to name a few.

As an Adjunct Professor of the Faculty of Business at Bond University, James has taught organisational behaviour and change at undergraduate, post graduate and executive level for over two decades and currently teaches the Change Management Institute’s Master Class to practising change managers.

James has published over three-dozen articles and five books on various socio-technical issues and has written a regular section for the Australian Financial Review BOSS magazine.  He has been a facilitator of short-term meetings and large-scale organisational change, and a speaker at numerous meetings on organisational strategy, cybernetics, human factors/ergonomics, human technology, and organisational behaviour.

James was a member of the Australian Graduate School of Management (AGSM) from 1990-2007 where he was a regular contributor to their world-class executive education and MBA programs as a subject leader and developer, a cohort leader and a senior lecturer.  James was the Director of the AGSM’s Accelerated Development Program, a three-week residential executive development program for high-potential managers, from 1994 to 1997, and was the Head of the Organisational Behaviour Group for 2005-2006.  His education has focused on psychology with a B.A. (Springfield, MA.), an M.A. (University of Manitoba, Canada) and a Ph. D. in Applied and Organisational Psychology (Old Dominion, Virginia).

James took on the role of Director of the Centre for Executive Education, Associate Dean Executive Education and Clinical Professor of Management in 2007 and was Associate Professor of Management, Faculty of Business, Technology and Sustainable Development, Bond University, Gold Coast Queensland until the end of 2012.  He now teaches on various Executive Education programs for Bond University, University of Adelaide and Australian Catholic University.
